A Kiss from Rose | Stop Saying What God Never Said About You

Some of us are praying against voices that aren’t coming from other people anymore—they’re coming from within. Somewhere along the way, somebody’s opinion, rejection, criticism, mistreatment, abandonment, or disappointment became part of the way you describe yourself.
I’m not good enough.
Nobody really wants me.
I’m always the problem.
Nothing ever works out for me.
I’m too old.
I’m too damaged.
I’ll probably mess this up too.
Maybe love just isn’t for me.
But wait a minute…
Did God say that about you?
Because if God didn’t say it, why are you repeating it?
God said you are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)
God said you are His workmanship. (Ephesians 2:10)
God said you are more than a conqueror. (Romans 8:37)
God said, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5)
So you cannot spend your prayer time asking God to transform your life and then spend the rest of your day speaking against what you’re asking Him to build.
Your words matter.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” — Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)
That doesn’t mean pretending everything is perfect. You can acknowledge that you’re hurting without declaring yourself hopeless. You can admit you’re tired without calling yourself defeated. You can experience rejection without declaring yourself unwanted. You can have a bad season without speaking a bad life over yourself.
There is a difference between saying:
“I’m going through something”
and declaring,
“Nothing good ever happens for me.”
One describes a moment.
The other gives the moment permission to define your future.

Watch how you talk about you.
Stop agreeing with every insecurity that enters your mind.
Stop repeating somebody else’s rejection as though God cosigned it.
Stop allowing what happened to you to become the definition of you.
If God calls you loved, stop calling yourself unlovable.
If God calls you His workmanship, stop calling yourself worthless.
If God says He has not forsaken you, stop declaring yourself abandoned.
And when your mind starts repeating an old story, interrupt it:
“God didn’t say that about me.”
Then replace it with what He did say.
Because sometimes the voice you’ve been asking God to silence…
is your own.
Speak differently.
Speak life.
Speak God’s Word.
And most importantly—
Stop saying about yourself what God never said about you.
