A Kiss from Rose | Prayer, When God Has a Word

LORD, WHEN YOU HAVE A WORD FOR ME… I'M LISTENING!

A prayer for discernment, an open heart, and the courage to receive what God is saying.

Heavenly Father,

Today, we come before You with open hearts, asking You to speak to the places in our lives that need Your wisdom, guidance, correction, and encouragement.

LORD, WHEN YOU HAVE A WORD FOR US, DON'T LET US MISS IT!

Sometimes we're so busy talking, worrying, complaining, and trying to figure everything out that we forget to be still long enough to listen.

And Lord, sometimes we hear what You're saying through Your Word, but we don't particularly like what we're hearing!

HELP US WITH THAT PART!

Because we don't want to hear only the words that make us feel good. We need the truth that helps us grow.

Your Word says, “Speak; for thy servant heareth.” — 1 Samuel 3:10 (KJV)

Father, give us hearts like Samuel's—willing to listen and ready to respond.

When we need direction, guide us.

When we need correction, humble us.

When we need encouragement, strengthen us.

When we're holding on to something we need to release, give us courage.

When we're moving too quickly, teach us patience.

And when fear has convinced us we cannot move forward, remind us of Your faithfulness.

LORD, DON'T LET OUR PERSONAL DESIRES BECOME LOUDER THAN YOUR TRUTH.

Help us recognize the difference between Your guidance, our emotions, other people's opinions, and what we simply want to hear.

Let everything we believe You are saying be tested against Your Word, Your character, and godly wisdom.

Your Word says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” — Psalm 119:105 (KJV)

So illuminate our next steps, even when You haven't revealed the entire journey.

And Father, when Your Word reveals something about us that needs changing, don't let us become defensive.

DON'T LET US BE SO QUICK TO SAY, “THAT WORD IS FOR SOMEBODY ELSE!” THAT WE MISS WHAT YOU'RE SHOWING US ABOUT OURSELVES!

Give us the humility to look in the mirror.

The honesty to acknowledge our shortcomings.

The wisdom to make better decisions.

And the discipline to put what we've learned into practice.

Because, Lord, we don't want to become people who hear Your Word, shout about Your Word, share Your Word, and then refuse to live by Your Word.

James 1:22 reminds us to “be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only.”

So today, Father, speak through Your Word, shape our hearts, renew our minds, and order our steps.

And when the message is uncomfortable, help us receive it.

When the instruction requires courage, help us obey it.

When the answer requires waiting, help us trust You.

LORD, WE DON'T JUST WANT A WORD THAT MOVES US EMOTIONALLY. WE WANT YOUR WORD TO CHANGE HOW WE LIVE!

In Jesus' name,

AMEN!
