A Kiss from Rose | Proverbs 17:13 — A Warning About Repaying Good with Evil

“If anyone returns evil for good, evil will not depart from their house.” — Proverbs 17:13

God takes it seriously when you mistreat people who have been good to you. It is one thing to fall out with someone. It is another thing entirely to intentionally repay kindness with harm.

When someone prays for you, covers you, supports you, sacrifices for you — and you respond with betrayal, deceit, or disrespect — you are not just hurting them, you are planting trouble into your own future.

Proverbs makes it clear: if you repay good with evil, you invite chaos into your life. Trouble follows, peace departs, and blessings dry up.

But here is the wisdom in this verse:

  • Honor those who pour into you.

  • Show gratitude to those who stood by you.

  • Protect the ones who covered you when others turned their backs.

Because how you treat the good in your life determines what kind of harvest you reap.

Let this be a reminder:

Be careful how you treat people. Especially the ones who love you, help you, and wish you well.

Repay good with good. Repay love with love. Repay kindness with honor.

That is how you keep peace in your house and favor over your life.
