A Kiss from Rose | Leadership Isn’t Abandoning
Sometimes love looks like staying long enough to help something grow.
Leading is not always glamorous.
Sometimes leadership looks like standing in front. Sometimes it looks like walking beside someone. And sometimes it looks like quietly standing behind them saying, “Keep going. You’ve got this.”
It’s not always pretty. Everybody won’t agree with you. Every plan won’t work the first time. There will be days when you question whether your effort is making any difference at all.
But leading is not abandoning something simply because it became difficult.
A leader understands that growth can be inconvenient. Seeds need tending before anybody gets to celebrate the harvest.
Paul explained it beautifully:
“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” — 1 Corinthians 3:6 (KJV)
That Scripture keeps leadership in perspective. We do our part, but God produces the increase.
You may plant something you don’t immediately get to enjoy. You may pour wisdom into someone who doesn’t understand it until years later. You may build something while people question whether it’s going anywhere.
And then one day…
you look back.
You see the person who finally believed in themselves.
You see the family that became stronger.
You see the business that survived its beginning.
You see the ministry touching people.
You see the children repeating wisdom you thought went in one ear and straight out the other.
You see fruit.
And suddenly, those long days look different.

Leadership isn’t about everything going your way. It’s about remaining committed to what you’ve been entrusted with while having enough wisdom to adjust, learn, listen, and grow along the way.
You won’t always receive applause.
You won’t always see immediate results.
But there is something deeply rewarding about standing in a place you once prayed over and realizing:
“Look what grew here.”
Not because you did everything perfectly.
Not because the journey was easy.
But because you stayed faithful to the work.
Plant.
Water.
Lead.
Encourage.
Keep showing up.
Then give God room to provide the increase.
Because one of the greatest rewards of leadership is eventually being able to look behind you and see fruit where there once was only a seed.
