A Kiss from Rose | Back In the Mirror: Therapy Session with God

HAVE A THERAPY SESSION ABOUT YOU… WITH GOD

And for once, leave everybody else out of the appointment.

Sometimes we go to God and spend the entire prayer talking about everybody but ourselves.

“Lord, fix them.”

“God, show them.”

“Lord, make them understand what they did to me.”

And God certainly cares about what happened to you. But sometimes the most important conversation you can have with Him begins with:

“God… let’s talk about me.”

Not what they did. Not what they said. Not why they left.

Me.

Why does that still trigger me?

Why am I afraid of being left?

Why do I keep choosing what feels familiar even when familiar hasn’t been healthy?

Why do I struggle to say no?

Why do I keep overgiving and then becoming exhausted when people happily receive it?

Why do I need certain people to understand me before I can have peace?

Now we’re getting somewhere.

David prayed:

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts.” — Psalm 139:23 (KJV)

That’s a courageous prayer because you’re giving God permission to turn the mirror toward you.

And maybe He’ll show you something that needs healing.

Something that needs forgiving.

Something that needs releasing.

Something that needs correcting.

Something you’ve been calling “just how I am” that He’s ready to help you grow beyond.

💌 Grandma’s Corner

Have a session with God where nobody else is the subject.

Sit down with Him and say:

“God, show me.”

Show me where I’ve grown.

Show me where I’m still hurting.

Show me what I’m carrying unnecessarily.

Show me where I need accountability.

Show me where I need compassion for myself.

Show me what I’m ready to outgrow.

And then—this is the hard part—get quiet enough to receive the answer.

Because every healing journey isn’t about discovering who hurt you.

Sometimes it’s about discovering what the hurt did inside of you—and allowing God access to that place.

That’s where the conversation changes.

You stop praying only, “God, change my situation.”

And you begin praying:

“God, while You’re working on everything around me… please keep working on everything within me.”

Now that’s a session worth having.
