A Kiss from Rose | Kindness Isn’t a Strategy, It’s a Way of Life
Everybody doesn’t need something from you. Some people are simply good to you.
There is something beautiful about people who are kind without an agenda.
They didn’t call because they needed a favor. They didn’t compliment you because they wanted access.
They didn’t support you because they were calculating what you could do for them later.
They were simply kind.
And in a world where people sometimes question every good gesture, don’t become so suspicious that you stop recognizing genuine hearts.
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted…” — Ephesians 4:32 (KJV)
Kindness is supposed to be part of how we live.
Sometimes somebody checks on you because they genuinely care.
Sometimes they buy your lunch because they wanted to bless you.
Sometimes they recommend your name because they believe in what you do.
Sometimes they give you your flowers because they think you deserve to hear something beautiful while you’re here to receive it.
Sometimes there’s no hidden motive.
There’s just a good heart.
Jesus taught, “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them…” — Matthew 7:12 (KJV)
That’s a lifestyle.
Do good because good is in you.
Encourage because you know what discouragement feels like.
Show up because you remember what it felt like when somebody showed up for you.
Give because you can.
Love because God taught you how.

Don’t let a world full of questionable motives make you ashamed of having a genuine heart.
Keep being kind.
And when God sends genuinely kind people into your life, appreciate them instead of interrogating every good thing they do.
Everybody isn’t trying to use you.
Everybody isn’t plotting.
Everybody isn’t keeping score.
There are still people who will celebrate you and not secretly compete with you.
People who will help you and never announce what they did.
People who will pray for you when your name doesn’t benefit them.
People who will sit beside you when there’s absolutely nothing in it for them.
That’s not strategy.
That’s character.
Galatians 5:22 tells us that gentleness—kindness in many modern translations—is part of the fruit of the Spirit. In other words, goodness toward people should naturally begin showing up in a life influenced by God.
So give the compliment.
Hold the door.
Send the encouraging text.
Check on the person.
Celebrate somebody else’s win.
Be generous when you’re able.
And don’t always ask, “What am I getting back?”
Sometimes the return is simply knowing:
“I made somebody’s day a little lighter.”
That’s enough.
Because kindness isn’t something you turn on when it’s beneficial.
Kindness is who you decide to be—even when there is absolutely nothing in it for you.
