A Kiss from Rose | Give Yourself Permission to Heal

Feel It. Face It. Give God Access to It.
Allow yourself to go through the process of being hurt. You don’t have to rush yourself into saying, “I’m okay,” when you’re not. You don’t have to smile through something that broke your heart just to make everyone else comfortable. If it hurt, acknowledge that it hurt. If you’re disappointed, admit you’re disappointed. If you need to cry, cry.
But while you give yourself permission to hurt, also give yourself permission to heal.
There is a difference between going through pain and building a home inside of it.
Feel it—but don’t become it.
Cry—but don’t decide you’ll never smile again.
Grieve what happened—but don’t allow what happened to convince you that nothing beautiful can happen next.
And through all of it, welcome God in.
Don’t wait until you’ve cleaned up your emotions to invite Him into the room. Bring Him into the confusion. Bring Him into the anger. Bring Him into the disappointment. Bring Him into those 2:00 a.m. thoughts nobody knows you’re having. Bring Him into the questions you feel guilty for asking.
Tell Him:
“God, this hurt me.”
“God, I don’t understand.”
“God, I’m angry.”
“God, I miss what was.”
“God, I’m trying to let go, but some days I don’t know how.”
That’s prayer too.
Psalm 34:18 says, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.”
God isn’t intimidated by your broken pieces.
He comes near to them.
Healing may not happen in one dramatic moment. Some mornings you’ll feel strong, and by evening something may trigger a memory. Some days you’ll think you’re completely over it, and suddenly a song, place, photograph, or conversation brings the feelings rushing back.
That doesn’t mean you’re back at the beginning.
Healing isn’t always a straight line.
Give yourself grace for the process.
But don’t continuously reopen a wound God is trying to close. Don’t keep visiting what broke you simply because it’s familiar. Don’t keep demanding answers from people when God is trying to give you peace without them.
At some point, you have to say:
“This happened to me—but it will not have me forever.”
💌 Grandma’s Corner
You have permission to feel it.
You have permission to talk about it.
You have permission to cry about it.
You have permission to pray about it.
And when you’re ready…
You have permission to release it.
Welcome God into every stage—the hurting, the questioning, the grieving, the accepting, the releasing, and finally…
the healing.
Because God isn’t asking you to pretend the wound never happened.
He’s showing you that the wound doesn’t get to decide what happens next.
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3 (KJV)
So take your time…
But keep moving.
Feel what you need to feel…
But keep inviting God into it.
And one day you’ll realize something quietly changed:
You remembered it without breaking.
You talked about it without crying.
You saw what happened without wanting to return to it.
And the thing that once consumed your entire heart…
no longer owns a room in it.
That’s healing.
And you have every right to welcome it.
