A Kiss from Rose | Give God the Credit for the Future

3 min read

You’ve seen what He can do behind you. Now trust what He can do ahead of you.

We spend a lot of time thanking God for what He’s already done.

And we should.

We can look back and point to the evidence.

God brought me through that.

God provided that.

God protected me there.

God opened that door.

God gave me the strength to survive that season.

But what about the part of your life you haven’t lived yet?

What about tomorrow?

What about next month?

Next year?

The opportunity you haven’t heard about yet?

The connection you haven’t made yet?

The wisdom you haven’t needed yet?

The door you don’t even know exists yet?

Maybe it’s time to start giving God some credit in advance.

Not because we know exactly what He’s going to do.

Not because we’re guaranteed everything we’ve written on our vision board.

But because we already know something about the God who will be there when we arrive.

“My times are in thy hand…” — Psalm 31:15 (KJV)

That changes how I look at my future.

I don’t have to approach tomorrow like God is waiting for me to get there so we can both figure it out.

He’s already God over the days I haven’t seen.

Think about how many things God has already brought you through that you once worried yourself sick trying to figure out.

You lost sleep.

Ran scenarios through your head.

Had imaginary conversations.

Calculated every possible outcome.

And somehow…

you made it here.

Not because everything happened exactly the way you wanted.

But because when life changed, God remained faithful.

So why would I believe He’s going to stop being God somewhere between here and my future?

💌GRANDMA’S CORNER

Isaiah 46:10 describes God as “declaring the end from the beginning.”

I’m still turning pages.

God already knows the story.

I’m trying to figure out the next move.

God sees beyond the move.

I’m wondering whether I’ll have what I need.

God already knows what that season will require.

That means I can stop trying to emotionally live in a future that hasn’t arrived yet.

I don’t need tomorrow’s strength today.

When tomorrow gets here, God can give me what tomorrow requires.

If I need wisdom, He’ll still be God.

If I need direction, He’ll still be God.

If I need provision, He’ll still be God.

If I need courage, He’ll still be God.

If something doesn’t work the way I planned, He’ll still be God.

And if something happens that’s better than anything I could’ve planned?

He’ll still get the credit.

So I’m changing the way I talk about my future.

I’m not going to constantly ask:

“What if something goes wrong?”

I’m making room for another question:

“What if God is already preparing me for something good?”

What if there are beautiful experiences ahead?

What if there are opportunities that fit the person I’m becoming?

What if there are prayers I’ll one day realize God answered differently—and better—than I expected?

What if one day I look around and realize:

“This is why God wouldn’t let me settle back there.”

I don’t know exactly what my future holds.

And faith doesn’t require me to pretend that I do.

But I know Who holds me while I walk into it.

So God, I’m giving You credit before I see the outcome.

Credit for the wisdom You’ll give.

Credit for the strength You’ll provide.

Credit for the direction You’ll reveal.

Credit for every way You’ll keep me, grow me, correct me, guide me, and walk with me.

I’ve got enough history with You to believe You’re going to be God in my future too.

And that gives me a reason to walk forward with expectation instead of fear.

I haven’t seen my best days yet.

But whatever those days contain, I’m entering them knowing one thing:

THE GOD WHO WAS FAITHFUL BACK THERE WILL STILL BE FAITHFUL WHEN I GET THERE.
