A Kiss from Rose | Get to Know People for Yourself

Take your time getting to know people for yourself.

Be intentional.

Be genuine.

Be present.

In a world where opinions travel faster than the truth, it’s easy to form conclusions about someone you’ve never really taken the time to know. We hear stories, notice personalities, witness a moment, or observe a reaction, and suddenly we believe we know a person’s heart. But people are far more than a single moment, a rumor, or someone else’s experience.

The truth is, most people are walking around with walls built from disappointment. They’ve been betrayed, misunderstood, overlooked, rejected, or hurt. Those walls aren’t always arrogance. Sometimes they’re protection. Sometimes they’re survival. Sometimes they’re the result of giving the best parts of themselves to the wrong people.

You may wonder why someone has two or three people who would do absolutely anything for them. You may question why certain people speak so highly of them while your experience seems different. Consider this: those individuals may have taken the time to know the person beneath the walls. They may have witnessed a side of them that only trust, consistency, patience, and genuine care could uncover.

None of us are without flaws.

Not one.

We all have imperfections.

We all have insecurities.

We all have something we’re still working through.

Yet every one of us wants to be seen beyond our mistakes. We hope someone will recognize our heart instead of only our shortcomings. We want grace for our flaws while often struggling to extend that same grace to others.

Who doesn’t want genuine friendships?

Who doesn’t want someone who chooses to understand before judging?

Who doesn’t want to feel accepted, appreciated,

valued, and safe enough to simply be themselves?

I believe we all do.

And perhaps one of the greatest gifts we can give another person is our willingness to slow down, listen without an agenda, love without conditions, and allow relationships to develop naturally instead of rushing to conclusions.

So before you decide who someone is…

Take the time to know them.

Ask questions.

Listen more than you speak.

Pay attention to character more than reputation.

Allow consistency—not assumptions—to reveal who they truly are.

You may discover that behind the guarded heart is one of the most genuine people you’ll ever meet.

💌 Grandma’s Corner

Everyone wants someone who sees beyond the walls.

Everyone wants someone who stays long enough to learn their heart.

Everyone wants someone who says, “Tell me your story before I write one about you.”

Maybe today…

You can be that person.
