TODAY’S DECLARATION
You Don’t Get to Disturb Me
Today, I declare that everybody does not get the privilege of changing my mood. A comment will not ruin my day. A look will not make me question myself.
A snide remark will not send me into defense mode, and somebody else’s attitude will not become mine.
I am learning the power of not taking the bait.
People may misunderstand me, disagree with me, overlook me, whisper about me, or intentionally try to get under my skin—and I can still have a beautiful day.
I declare that I will stop giving temporary people permanent control over my emotions. I don’t have to attend every argument I’m invited to. I don’t have to correct every assumption, answer every accusation, or react to every attempt to provoke me.
Sometimes my greatest response will simply be:
“Okay.”
And then I’ll keep moving.
Not because I’m weak.
Not because I don’t have anything to say.
But because everything I could say doesn’t need to be said.
“He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.” — Proverbs 16:32 (KJV)
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION
My Skin Is Not Their Residence
I affirm that nobody gets to live rent-free under my skin.
My mind is valuable real estate.
My peace is expensive.
My joy took too much to recover.
And access is not free.
I can hear something without absorbing it.
I can witness foolishness without participating in it.
I can disagree without becoming disrespectful.
I can be disappointed without becoming consumed.
I can recognize somebody is trying to provoke me and make the conscious decision to leave them standing there holding the match while I refuse to become the fire.
Today, I choose emotional discipline.
I choose laughter.
I choose peace.
I choose to mind the business God gave me.
And if somebody wakes up determined to get under my skin?
They’re going to need another address. 😂
Because I’m occupied.
God lives here.
Peace lives here.
Joy lives here.
Wisdom lives here.
And we are officially…
AT CAPACITY.
