A Kiss from Rose | Cut It Out With the Expectations

We often find ourselves frustrated, upset, or disappointed because of the expectations we place on others. But have we ever stopped to think that these expectations might be the very thing that gets us in trouble? We expect people to act a certain way, speak a certain way, or even treat us in a specific manner. And when they don’t, we feel hurt or let down. But here’s the truth—people are flawed, just like us. Even when God speaks directly into our lives, how often do we truly follow His word without hesitation?

If we struggle to follow the Creator, the One who knows every detail of our lives, why do we expect people to follow us or listen to our desires without resistance? Sometimes, our expectations come from a place of control or disappointment. However, God teaches us that people are free to make their own choices, just as we are. What we must do is shift our focus from demanding outcomes to trusting that God will work through every situation in His time, not ours. The only expectation we can truly place is that God’s plan will never fail us, even if others do.

Let us remember: It’s not about expecting perfection from people, but about showing them the same grace that God shows us every day.
