A Kiss from Rose | Conscience and Conviction

One of the most powerful things God gave us is a conscience. It is that part of us that won’t always allow us to live comfortably with ourselves when we know we have done wrong. It doesn’t matter how much we justify it, explain it, minimize it, or convince ourselves that we had every right to do what we did.

Sometimes the soul simply won’t cooperate. It will eat at you. It will replay the conversations. It will revisit the decisions. It will remind you of the words you spoke, the people you hurt, the promises you broke, the disrespect you showed, the disregard you displayed, and the opportunities you missed to do right.

And believe it or not, that’s a good thing. Because conviction is evidence that your heart is still alive. A person who can mistreat people, betray trust, gossip, manipulate, lie, disregard, use others, or wound hearts and then sleep peacefully without a second thought should be concerned. But a person who wrestles with their own behavior, who can’t seem to shake what they said or did, who finds themselves disturbed by their own actions, is experiencing something valuable.

Conviction.

Not condemnation.

Conviction.

Because God is saying, “Your soul wasn’t designed to live comfortably with that.”

Some things money can’t fix. Some things status can’t silence. Some things applause can’t drown out. Your soul knows. And sometimes, your soul simply can’t live with certain versions of yourself. It begins to eat away at your peace. Not because God hates you, but because He loves you too much to let you become comfortable in behavior that is beneath who He created you to be.

God doesn’t send conviction to destroy you. He sends it to restore you. To bring you back. To soften your heart before it becomes hardened. To remind you that accountability is not your enemy. Repentance is not weakness. And change is still possible.

So if your conscience keeps bothering you, if your spirit won’t let you rest, if certain things keep coming back to your mind, don’t ignore it. Sit with it. Pray about it. Own it. Learn from it. Fix what can be fixed. Apologize where necessary. And let God do the work.

💌 Grandma’s Corner

One of the most dangerous things in the world is not having a conscience. Because when your soul no longer bothers you, your heart can become comfortable with things that God never intended for you to live with.

Be thankful for conviction.

It means God is still dealing with you.

And that’s a beautiful thing.
