A Kiss from Rose | Thank You for Being a Friend

Take a moment… and really think about your friends.
Not just your “best friend.”
Not just the one you talk to every day.
But all of them.
Because each friend in your life holds a different piece of you…
a version of you the world may never fully see.
Some of your friends have seen you become a mother.
Some stood beside you through marriage… or marriages.
Some held you together through divorce… or divorces.
Some sat with you in hospital rooms.
Some showed up for baby showers, house warmings, birthdays, and celebrations.
Some have walked with you through death.
Through grief.
Through moments you didn’t think you would make it through.
Some helped you raise your children.
Some prayed for you when you didn’t have the strength to pray for yourself.
Some have seen your quiet strength.
Others have witnessed your breakdowns.
They’ve been there in your sober moments…
and yes, even those nights where laughter carried you through things you didn’t want to feel.
They’ve seen your joy.
They’ve seen your pain.
They’ve seen the in-between.
And sometimes…
when one friend hurt you, you leaned on another just to make sense of it all.
That’s how life works.
Not one friend holds your whole story…
But together?
They hold your life.
And we don’t always realize how valuable that is.
We get busy.
We get distracted.
We get caught up in emotions, misunderstandings, and pride.
We take time for granted.
We stay mad longer than we should.
We cut people off too quickly.
We put distance where grace should’ve been.
But what if we paused?
What if we took time to reflect on each friend… individually?
The memories.
The laughs.
The tears.
The conversations.
The moments that didn’t seem big at the time—but now mean everything.
You would realize something powerful:
Each friendship is priceless.
Each one carries history.
Each one carries love.
Each one carries a piece of your journey.
And if we remembered that more often…
We would treat our friends with more care.
More patience.
More understanding.
We wouldn’t be so quick to walk away.
We wouldn’t waste time holding onto anger.
We wouldn’t take their presence for granted.
Because the truth is…
These are the people we grow old with.
These are the people who remember who we were, who we are, and who we’re becoming.
They hold pieces of our lives.
Pieces of our families.
Pieces of our hearts.
You are not perfect.
Neither are they.
But together?
You are perfectly connected.
Perfect in laughter.
Perfect in tears.
Perfect in the memories you’ve built and the ones still to come.
So today…
Reach out.
Reflect.
Appreciate.
And if you haven’t said it in a while…
Say it now:
Thank you for being a friend (because guess what, life is short)
To all of my friends,
Thank you for being a friend to me. Thank you for being who you are and allowing me to be who I am. If I ever hurt you, were not there for you as I should have been, or misunderstood you, I apologize. Please forgive me.
If I made you laugh non stop for hours, I pray we continue to laugh together.
If I were the breath of fresh air that you needed, or the glimmer of hope to keep going, just know you were the same for me.
Let’s continue to ride this thing called life out, until the wheels fall off.
I love you. I know I’ve been a hoot!
