A Kiss from Rose | Take Care of What God Trusted You With — Your Spouse

When God gives you a spouse, He is not just giving you a companion.
He is entrusting you with one of His children.
A soul He created.
A heart He molded.
A life He loves.
Your spouse is not your property — they are your responsibility.
Not to control, but to cover.
Not to use, but to uplift.
Not to tear down, but to build up.
Taking care of your spouse means more than providing material things.
It means protecting their peace.
Guarding their heart.
Speaking life into their dreams.
Praying over them in private as much as you praise them in public.
Being their safe place in a world that can be cold and unforgiving.
When you neglect your spouse, you are neglecting a gift God put in your care.
When you mistreat your spouse, you are mistreating someone God calls beloved.
Marriage is a covenant, not a contract.
It is a daily choice to love, honor, respect, and serve.
It is stewardship over the most intimate and sacred trust God could place in your hands.
Remember, one day you will answer to God for how you handled what He gave you.
Let your answer be — “I cherished them, I honored them, and I loved them well.”
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her.” — Ephesians 5:25
Father God,
I thank You for the gift of my spouse.
I know they are not mine to own, but mine to love, protect, and cherish.
You created them with care, purpose, and beauty — and You trusted me to walk this life with them.
Lord, help me to be a good steward over this gift.
Teach me to love them in action and in truth.
Help me to cover them in prayer when the world feels heavy.
Help me to speak words that heal, not words that hurt.
Help me to listen when they need to be heard, and to hold them when they need to be comforted.
Guard my heart from pride, selfishness, and neglect.
Remind me daily that this marriage is not just about my happiness, but about Your glory.
Let my love for my spouse reflect Your love for me — patient, kind, forgiving, and unshakable.
Lord, strengthen our bond.
Help us to honor our vows not only in easy seasons, but in the hard ones too.
Keep us rooted in You so we can weather every storm together.
One day, when I stand before You, let me be able to say —
“I loved them well. I honored them well. I was faithful with what You entrusted to me.”
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
