A Kiss from Rose | Stop Calling People Your Peace

You keep saying, “He’s my peace.” “She brings me peace.” “They calm me.” But what happens when they become the very storm they once soothed?
📖 Scripture
“Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:6–7 (KJV)
Your peace is not supposed to walk away.
Your peace is not supposed to lie on you.
Your peace is not supposed to manipulate, ignore, confuse, or drain you.
Your peace is not supposed to be a person—it’s supposed to be a presence.
That presence is Jesus Christ—the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). The only one who never changes, never switches up, never forgets you, and never gets tired of hearing from you.
When you give people the title only God deserves, you hand them power over your mind, your emotions, and your sanity.
And the moment they disappoint you—and they will—you begin to question the stability of everything around you.
You say:
• “I can’t function.”
• “I thought they were my peace.”
• “I gave them everything.”
But that’s the issue… You gave them God’s job.
👁 Reflect on This
• Have I idolized a person’s presence?
• Do I panic more when they don’t respond than when I haven’t prayed?
• Do I feel like my peace left when they did?
If so—it’s time to redirect your source.
Lord, help me stop confusing temporary comfort with eternal peace.
Show me where I’ve misplaced my trust and remind me that peace comes from You—not people.
Quiet the noise in my life, so I can hear You more clearly.
Let the peace that only You provide calm my mind, settle my spirit, and protect my heart.
I release every imposter I gave Your seat to, and I invite Your presence to take over again.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
💌 Grandma’s Note
Don’t crown people with titles they didn’t earn and can’t carry.
That man, that woman, that friend—they are not your peace.
They’re a bonus, not the base.
Let God be the one who stabilizes your spirit. Because His peace doesn’t walk out the door—it sits right next to you when the storm hits.
