A Kiss from Rose | Kinds of Prayer

There are four main types of prayer: adoration, contrition, thanksgiving, and supplication. Let's look at some examples of each type.

Adoration- Father, I give You the glory, honor, and praise. Lord, You are the Lord of heaven and earth; I praise Your name. (Similar to Matt 10:25)

Contrition- Father, forgive me for I have sinned. (Jesus never sinned.)

Thanksgiving- Father, I thank You for waking me up this morning. Thank you for hearing my petitions. (Similar to John 11:41-42)

Supplication- Father, forgive my enemies. (Similar to Luke 23:34).

Most people incorporate all of these in their petition in some form or another, unless they feel they have not sinned and will not use the contrition type. I use all of them since we all miss the mark everyday.

There are three scriptures listed above in bold, let's read each of them as our bible reading for today.

"After I pray, I feel like God is giving me a huge hug. It's like all of my worries was lifted off of me."- Alston Shropshire

* Little known fact about me, I pray everyday since 1994.
