A Kiss from Rose| February 16th

Apostle Paul mentions the gift of discerning of spirits in 1 Cor. 12:10. This passage says that these words mean the ability to tell who is spiritual and who is not, who is a prophet and who is not since at the time of Apostle Paul, there were false prophets deluding people. So you have discernment in everything that you do? Do you know who is good or bad? What places should you be at? Do you know when things aren't right? What types of conversations do you have with God about discernment? Do you even listen when God is showing or telling you something?

Here is some conversation starter with God today:

Give me discernment in my heart, I pray, and increase my knowledge and understanding so that may I come to know You more and love You better.

Father, I pray that You would grant me the Spirit of wisdom and discernment so that I may know You better and love You more.

I pray that I may be pure and blameless in Your sight until the day that Christ Himself comes to take us to be with Himself. But until that day arrives, I ask that You keep me humble before You so that I may be used to Your praise and glory.

I ask to be kept from becoming captive to the philosophies of men and to be alert to the empty deceit of this world system, the traditions of man, and the false religiosity that seems to predominate in Christendom today.

Lord, my heart is open to Your leading and guidance, and I desire that I do only those things that are righteous in Your sight. For the sake of Your name, I pray that I may be quiet to listen to Your voice and slow to assume that I know Your will when it is my fleshly thinking. Give me true discernment; I pray to know Your will.

You alone know what I should be praying for, and my heart is open to be prompted by Your Spirit of truth. I offer You myself a living sacrifice to do Your will, go where You send or stay where You choose. Let me be sensitive to Your will and not assume that my will is the best choice for my life.

Are you committed to having these conversations and activating your discernment?

Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge;

fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart,

and do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge him,

and he will make straight your paths.*

James 1:5

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

1 John 4:1

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

James 3:13-18

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
