A Kiss from Rose | Alzheimer's and Dementia

Caring for someone with Alzheimer's or dementia is both a profound challenge and a deep honor. Though their memories may fade, and their identities might feel distant at times, it’s important to remember that they are still people with hearts full of love. These individuals hold the keys to countless cherished memories that we, as caregivers, can share and celebrate.

There was a time when our roles were reversed. They were the ones caring for us, providing meals, navigating our rebellious years, and enduring sleepless nights filled with worry and love. Despite the challenges, they loved us unconditionally, shaping who we are today.

As they struggle to remember us and even themselves, their hearts remain full of love. Every smile they muster is a testament to their enduring spirit and love. Let us cherish these moments, honoring the profound bond we share, and reciprocate the care and compassion they once showed us.

What their prayer may look like..

Dear Lord,

In moments when my mind feels like a maze and memories slip through my fingers, please be my guiding light. Though I may not always remember the faces and names of my loved ones, I feel their love and care surrounding me.

Grant me the strength to face each day with grace and courage. Help me find peace in the midst of confusion and comfort in the kindness of those around me. Bless my caregivers with patience and understanding, as they walk this journey with me.

Thank you for the love that still fills my heart, and for the small joys that brighten my days. May Your presence be my constant companion, and may Your love never fade from my soul.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.
