I know it may seem as if these messages are stepping on some toes. These messages are coming from a realistic approach. In most cases, people can understand from a simple standpoint that they either live or see every day. That is always my goal, for the readers to understand the message. It is less effective, or it doesn't reach as many people if the content is highly "erudite." Especially if half of the audience doesn't know what "erudite" means ( it means intellectual), the messages will forever be clear in Grandma's Corner. The Word of God will always stand firm.
So today, here are seven things we need to be reminded of with scripture to back them up—a straightforward message, in simple terms. Let us share this with others because we all could use a good reminder and critical points to practice.
Stop worrying- “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Be yourself- “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10
Do the right thing- “No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8
Help others- “But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:25-29
Give thanks always- “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.“ 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Forgive others- “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven,” Luke 6:37
Love one another-“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails,” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
"Staying focused on these things will help us all in the long run. I am constantly being reminded of my grandmother's words ( Momma as I called her), to always, no matter what, do the right thing. Micah 6:8. I never knew there was scripture to this saying. Thank you for instilling the Word in me, Momma."- Alston Shropshire
Thank you for those seven important topics. Amen
