Today's message is about the prayer of Jabez. I received some church notes from a friend while I was on vacation. I thought is was a blessing for someone to think of me while on vacation. Having people who are constantly aligned with you and praying for you are essential to your journey through life.
As we resume our daily messages in Grandma's Corner, let's be proactive with improving our prayer life while making a conscious effort to pray for others.
Let's examine these church notes and see how we can apply the Jabez prayer in our lives.
9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”[a] 10 Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm[b] so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked. – 1 Chronicles 4:9-10

A. A Prayer for God’s Provision

We are praying for endorsed blessings.
Jabez sought out that God would bless him. He prayed that God would bless him with blessings.
“God bless me indeed.”
Indeed in Hebrew means blessings. No devil or demon can take what God has blessed.
Four Areas of life God wants to enlarge:
1. Pray God will enlarge your Ministry – “Our service to Him in our personal spheres of influence.”
2. Enlarge my Opportunities – “Occasions and situations to make something happen that is favorable.”
3. Enlarge my Responsibilities – “Our authority, influence, and leadership to make a difference.”
4. Enlarge my Expectancy – “Our eager excitement and optimism of something better than what is now.”
God will give you the resources to handle the responsibilities.
God don’t give me more if your hands are not on me.
